beginning, middle, and end

I’m going to do a double-meme on this, Orange you glad it’s Friday #52 (see the bottom pix) and I heart Macro #15 (most of these are macro shots)

I’ve posted boatload of butterfly photos over the years, here’s a few more.  It shows the progress from egg to butterfly.  These photos are all the same individual, a first for me.  We’ve had a lot of butterfly visitors this year, but not many eggs to raise.


This is the egg (ya think?).  Once laid, they take a few days to mature and hatch into a caterpillar.  This one’s pretty ripe and about to hatch.  I took this with a macro lens and extension tubes, this is only a few millimeters in diameter.

A young caterpillar, my big fat thumb gives a reference to it’s size.  After this, they molt and turn bright green, which I didn’t get a photo of this year.
