all wet

We had a thunderstorm roll through the other evening (something new and different). After the storm passed, I went outside with my camera to photograph some water droplet photos and happened upon this poor bee nestled in the Liatris, trying to dry out. It was still there the next morning.

This was taken with a 100mm macro lens with 65mm of extension tubes,.  I didn’t leave the shutter open long enough, so I had to increase the exposure in lightroom, which added noise to the picture.

You can see all kinds of reflections in the water drop on it’s eye, so I’m contributing this to Weekend Reflections #199 (go James!) and I heart macro #10

What an impressive macro of insect… Was it dead ? It is rare to see an insect with water like that on the eyes…

It was very much alive, I don’t think it was very happy with me sticking a camera in it’s face, but it really couldn’t do much as it’s wings were wet.

I’m always drawn to the eyes, wondering what dark thoughts are within, but I’m noticing the mouth parts as well, created for sipping.
