I couldn’t think of a word to describe this, so I wrote down the first thing that came to mind.
What is this you ask? It’s a stainless steel tile backsplash that surrounds our laundry tub. The tiles are 3″ by 6″, so each pair form a 6″ by 6″ square. I converted to monochrome and boosted the contrast to get the grain of the stainless. The lighting is from a single halogen fixture mounted under the cabinets.
My contribution for Weekend Reflections #119 and The Weekend in Black and White, 30-December-2011.
Wow! I like the way you present these tiles – you’ve made something ordinary into an extraordinary work of art!
Waaah? Baby crying? No way. It’s kind of abstract, you could have called it asdfjkl;. I’m laughing.
The tiles appear so much bigger than 6 x 6. Cool tones. Happy New Year Woody. I’m thinking about your suggestion on the off camera flash. Might be a good next step for me.
cool feature! nice and clean! how come my stainless steel kitchen sink doesn’t look like that?!
Wow, that is a pretty interesting image.
Very artsy! You have a great eye!

Sharon
Love it! It’s so abstract.
Knew your shot from last week was wall material. Way to go Wayne.
This is a great study of perspective and texture! Kudos!
i like that…great job..
Supurb. Thanks for sharing with us how you went out shooting and developing this capture. The way you worked to bring out the texture of the stainless steel is wonderful. Since I think of myself as “Linear Lucy,” I like all the line and angles in this shot. The lighting is just icing on the cake. genie
Perfect!
It tricks the eyes and gets your mind wandering!
Nice one. Would never have guessed that the tiles were so small. Like that you can see the grain of the brushed steel.
Très intéressant et bien maîtrisé ! Bravo !
