Another from the warped mind of yours truly. I was changing the spark plugs on my motorcycle and something about this caught my eye, so I took some photographs.
For those not mechanically inclined, this is the business end of the plug where the spark initiates the combustion. This is in pretty good shape and pretty clean after ~6,000 miles (~10,000km) of wear.
I should (and may) re-shoot showing a spark. It looks cool to look at, but 50,000 volts misplaced can really make for a bad day. A contribution for Macro Monday.
You must have known that I was going to read this post – being highly technologically and mechanically challenged. I do know what a spark plug is, and which end makes the “sparky” … but that’s all. I’ve never bothered to look at one close up – it is surprisingly photogenic! :=}
nice shot, but i dread the outcome if you try to shoot a spark!
Looks like a monster to me!
Very good macro … I had a pony called Sparky!
Very good sharpness and contrast in black and white. I like the structure of the surface.
I love when ordinary things become art
this shot is beautiful
I love the shot, but I’m not a fan of spark plugs.
Not a warped mind at all… very creative. Looks like the plug is burning pretty clean, too!
