This was taken at my son’s 7th grade band concert. I snapped a shot right after the stage lights went down so there was minimal light (thank you, Captain Obvious). This is a crop of one of the band members face, converted to monochrome. The second shot is some bizarre Lightroom artifact, but I thought it was pretty cool.
While it looks like he’s sleeping, he’s actually reaching to change the music. Pretty artsy for a left-brained engineer.
Submitted for ‘The Weekend in Black and White, 20-May-2011.
okay, Mr. Artsy!
i do like it tho!
(yes, that was a turkey vulture at my place. we get black vultures here too.)
Wow, I am married to a left brained engineer! LOL. He just doesn’t get my artsy stuff. I show him something I think is soooo cool and he just likes the plain old shot best. To each his own. I am impressed that you can step out of that box.
I like the black and white cause it has less light. It looks like a dream.
Nice treatment in both images, Mr. Left-Brained Engineer!
;-D
Black and white one beautiful and absorbing. Red one a bit weird.

Wonderful picture and a treasure from the moent
I like the face in the dark. Very artistic and poetic shot.
I love the b&w version – it is like an old Victorian photograph and is so dreamy.
Great image regardless of technicalities!
Captain Obvious and Mr. Artsy Engineer showing up in the same post!? Don’t know if the fan base can stand it.
I prefer the first one…..looks like an angel, bet there’s a little devil in there too.
Absolument superbe. Especially the black and white.
Masterful! Love the texture…
Ya done it again Woody. Great shot. I really like the tones. Looks like real film grain. Yes Woody, the mood is perfect. I love it.
Very artsy! I really like the graininess.
wonderful shot…Well done..Me like!!!..;-D
The black and white is beautiful. A most unusual and impressive portrait.
I’m enchanted by this creative idea, I love the b&w version!
Very well done!

Both images are to thought provoking. What talent you display. Love the total black and white though the second shot is so interesting and striking with its red.
Wow, those are stunning images!
Minimalistic art! I really like the first one.
Great processing!
I wish you happy weekend!
