fence rail

The little building and fence are part of the Peace Valley Nature Center (link below).  This was taken late one afternoon and I had to use the tree to block the sun to avoid completely blowing out this shot.

  1. I am in the middle of pioneer and homesteaders story books and this kind of makes me think of them. Though of course, this isn’t sod! Very nice.

This is a great shot – I really love how the fence rails draw the eye through the picture, and how the sun’s glow gives the snow a golden edge.

  3. Terrific capture as always, Woody! I love your composition — and, yeah, I always love that, too!! What can I say, I repeat myself, but that’s because I’ve run out of words and your photos are always great! I do repeat myself, don’t I???? Nothing like getting old! Enjoy your weekend, stay warm!!!

The split rails fall neatly at the end of the fence, well styled. The tree mans that the picture was not obliterated by the light. Yet the illumination that remains allows for artistic shadows to fall on the land. Nicely captured!

    A SEEKER OF SHADOWS

A seeker of shadows one day
Asked shadows to come out and play:
    “O shadows, my dears,
    Despite all my fears,
I hope you will not run away.”
