letters to heaven

One of many shots I took at Freedom Square in Doylestown.  It was built to commemorate Travis Manion, a local US marine killed in Iraq in 2007.

Submitted for Shadow Shot Sunday #139.

Peace.

I found myself holding back tears on this one.
This is around the same time my friend was killed while serving in Afghanistan.
I hope lots of people are sending letters to heaven for these wonderful soldiers who gave all.

  3. Beautiful and very moving, Woody! Thank you!

The effect this casualty on the community is huge. The dedication to preserve his memory is amazing, the design and building shows the effect of a town coming together, the solidarity in all who remember and hope to never forget is heartwarming. The shadow allows the radiance of the memorial to shine!
