One morning last week, it was really foggy when I departed for work. I stopped at Lower Nike park (yes, so named for because it was a Nike Missile site) to get a few shots and quite frankly, they all sucked. This one caught my eye and when I converted it to monochrome, well you be the judge. Not great, but not really sucky.
I made two basic changes in Lightroom; I reduced the brightness of the ground and increased the black clipping.

I’m very weak regarding mist and the sun – this was really majestic!
Beautiful photo. I especially like it in b&w
Have a great weekend!
Hi Wayne,
Thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting.
Turning into monochrome works fine with me. I like B&W version and believe that you were worth visiting and taking photo!!!
Have a wonderful weekend.
there is something magical in this shot.
Eerie beauty. And the highwayman rode into the day…
This really works. There’s a surreal feeling that I really like here. I might even have add intentional grain. Anyway, it totally doesn’t suck! Nice.
ohhh, beautiful! Love that fog, and the tree. Looks like the sun is trying to show it’s face. Very nice
That’s beautiful. I love the glimpse of the rising sun.
I’m sorry I’m so late visiting – a very busy weekend!
Really beautiful!
Wayne,
An interesting shot and a good eye for composition.
I’d recommend stopping down your aperture–there just isn’t a lot of detail in the photo at F4. And, at ISO100 with a 50mm lens and a shutter speed of 1/320, there was considerable room to do so. Somewhere around F8-F11 at ISO100 would have given you a shutter speed close to 1/50–just enough for your 50mm lens if you’re still, or you could have upped your ISO to 400 and easily handheld at F16. This would have given your photo increased depth of field. Also, I’m not sure if it’s because of your LR calibrations, but there seems to be some splotchiness in the sky and ground. I’d love to see an unedited version or a new edited version with this in mind!
Cheers!
