This is on Filbert St near JFK Blvd in Philadelphia. Alex and I had fun on our trip, but I’m thinking I might have enjoyed myself more. I took a bunch of shots and kept almost 60 and I’ve picked about 10 to share here.
This building used to be the city hall annex but is now the Courtyard Mariott. For more monochrome shots, visit The Weekend in Black & White 27-August-2010 and Shadow Shot Sunday #119.

sidewalk in philly
Like this kind of shot, I have one similar from Venice.
Excellent shot. I love the perspective and the light and shadows.
I love the lines, and the light, and the figures in the distance.
Spectacular composition ending in what might be a painting
at the end, acknowledging that it isn’t! Where in Philly could this be, I wonder.
Margaret,
It’s on Filbert St near JFK Blvd.

I love this shot-especially the way the people are faint at the end of the arches. Beautiful.
wonderful monochrome shot – love the repeating arches
Fantastic image, Woody. «Louis» enjoys geometrical shots like this, something his usual subject matter normally denies him.
Such a GRAND sidewalk, with lovely shadows!
A dramatic, impressive walkway with wonderful pools of light in contrast with the plains of shadow!
Great shadow shot!
Happy Sunday and a great week ahead!
Wow! That is a stunning photo! Glad to hear you had a fun trip
Wow, that really is a fabulous shot!!!
Love the very small people at the end!
I like it a lot! It sort of reminds me of Palais Royal in Paris.
We stayed at that Marriott Courtyard just before we moved to Pennsylvania last year.
Great work, Great image!
