I wasn’t going to have a special July 4th posting, but this subject seemed appropriate.
This is a LONG post
with a lot of photos
So I’m in the back yard, trying once again, in vain, to photograph lightning bugs flying and glowing. I have this idea in my head that I can do this, but I’ve been unsuccessful every try. I’m running out of options.
My youngest son come out of the house with sparklers and I get an idea. I was already using the wide angle zoom on a tripod, so give up on the fireflys and do something FUN!
All of these were shot with the following exposure settings:
Canon EF-S 10-22mm f3.4-3.5 USM lens
10mm Focal Length
Exposure 10 sec @ f3.5
ISO 100
Increase black clipping to mask out the people.
If you click on the first picture, it will open up a slide show with captions describing what’s going on. Alternately, if you put your mouse pointer over a picture, it will give you the description.
If you are using Internet Explorer 6, you will not see the slide show, you’ll need to click on each photo, then use the browser ‘Back’ button.
What a wonderful way to celebrate. Have a great day. Oh, and wirting white on white is kinda difficult for leaving a comment, I can’t see what I’m writing.
See, that was meant to be ‘writing, not wirting!
Very cool. Looks like lots of fun and easier than capturing fireflies while they are lighting and flying.
Great photographs! Sparklers can be alot of fun!
